Mt Egmont/Taranaki is 2513m at its highest peak. The track to the summit starts at the Egmont Visitor's Centre at 960m, and takes about 8hrs return. Alas the track is relentlessly uphill, and just gets steeper and steeper. The locals told us that there was rather a lot of snow for this time of year, but that didn't deter us...
